AN ANIMATED ROOM. Spanish Animated Short Films (2001–2025)
In this exhibition, Adrián Encinas—a doctor, researcher, and professor specializing in animated film—surveys the state of the art in our country during the first quarter of the 21st century, showcasing more than 30 of its most prominent creators through original pieces, reproductions, and excerpts from their work. The exhibition is organized by technique, ranging from traditional cel animation and stop motion to experimental approaches such as clay-on-glass, embroidery, and direct intervention on film frames. It offers an essential overview for understanding how this medium and its practitioners have, in recent years, ascended to the very pinnacle of the world of animation.
“There are no limits for Spanish animation, which has come to view the short-film format as a testing ground—a launchpad for reaching the heights of absolute excellence and versatility.” Jordi Costa.
