ÓRBITA [Creation Lab] is not just a film workshop.

It’s a cinematic immersion in which participants move from theory to practice, gaining the tools to create a set of short pieces that will later come together as a collective film to be screened at the festival. During this short but intense journey, we’ll learn to watch films with a critical eye, debate what kind of film we want to make, and share techniques and methods for effective shooting. The goal? To create a film that represents us and our city, and that becomes part of the history of the ALCINE Festival. In doing so, we aim to nurture a new generation of potential filmmakers who can relate to images —both those they receive from the internet and those they send out into the world— in a healthy, constructive, and critical way.

In ALCINE 54, this process will be guided by Miguel Guindos, Filmmaker and educator specializing in adolescence and youth. He studied Film Direction and the Master’s in Film Criticism at ECAM. His self-produced short films —made with few resources and among friends— depict Madrid’s teenage life through the lens of magical hyperrealism.  Through his initiative El cine es fácil (Film Is Easy), he teaches teenagers how to make films with minimal resources —using nothing more than their hands and a mobile phone camera— developing projects such as the collective feature film Una peli hecha con las manos (A Film Made by Hand), currently in post-production.
