The latest ALCINEclub survey made it clear: more than 80% of the regulars of the film screenings in original version on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Teatro Salón Cervantes are also regulars of the historic Alcalá de Henares/Comunidad de Madrid Film Festival. That's why the ALCINE team wants to reward this loyalty year after year with an exclusive preview of the image and contents of its 52nd edition, including a toast on Thursday 28th in a new space that will be the talk of the town during the imminent ALCINE 52.
And what better context to celebrate one of the longest-running festivals in Spain, a qualifier for the OSCARs, the Goyas and an international benchmark for short films, than with one of the most acclaimed European films of the year: Aftersun. Starring Paul Mescal and partly shot in Spain - including the Macarena dance - the debut feature by young Scot Charlotte Wells tells the story of a daughter's memories of her father during their last holiday together. The screening will be introduced by ALCINE's artistic director, Pedro Toro, who will give an exclusive preview of this year's programme, as well as presenting a new space and a new category designed exclusively for all those people who don't miss a single screening.
After the screenings on Thursday 28th, all the spectators of both days will be invited to a small toast to celebrate this new edition.
Because, more than spectators... More than jurors... The public of Alcalá es...ALCINÉFILO.
