Yesterday's ALCINE Club viewers received a preview of the ALCINE 53 programming, which will have among its novelties a fantastic and horror film competition section and ALCINE Continuous Session
Registration is now open for the ALCINEPHIL Space at ALCINE 53, to which film fans can sign up through an online form until next October 25. This was announced yesterday by the artistic director of ALCINE, Pedro Toro, who told the ALCINEPHILES who enjoyed the screening at ALCINE Club of 'Second Prize' this Thursday some of the new features in the programming for the 53rd edition of the festival, organized by the Alcalá de Henares City Council and the Community of Madrid with financing from the Ministry of Culture.
In addition to being able to vote for the audience awards of the official sections (National Short Film Competition, European Competition, Open Screen and ESFFA, the European audience awards), ALCINÉFILOS will be rewarded for their love for the festival with free passes to these sections, discounts exclusives at collaborating establishments and the option to exchange your tickets for ALCINE merchandising, among other advantages.
The artistic director of ALCINE exclusively presented to the viewers of ALCINE Club yesterday Thursday at the Teatro Salón Cervantes the creation of two new sections for the 53rd edition of the festival: a competitive one, dedicated to fantasy and horror cinema, and ALCINE Continuous Session, which will offer a second showing from Monday to Thursday of the short films from the official sections screened during the weekend. ALCINE 53 promises more music and maintains the Alcalá Film Jam and ALCINE Off sections, inaugurated last year.
In addition, ALCINE Club viewers were able to see a preview of the image of ALCINE 53 (again the work of the prestigious SOPA Team: 'La Mesías', Balenciaga...), which will be held from November 7 to 17 and this year will sharpen the seventh art more than ever.
'Second Prize', the film about the legendary indie band Los Planetas, selected by the Film Academy to represent Spain at the Oscars, was the film chosen for this ALCINE Club session that was accompanied by the preview of the ALCINE 53 programming , which will also be a qualifying festival for both the Goya and the US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards once again.
This story about Los Planetas, the group that marked the beginning of the independent scene in Spain at the end of the 90s, which 725 spectators enjoyed, was also a reference to ALCINE's attachment to music, which will be present more than ever in the 53rd edition of the festival, as announced by Toro. And it also served to remember one of the figures of the independent scene of Alcalá de Henares, the DJ of the local indie scene Dani Andrinete.
“We wanted to dedicate this screening to the person who, at least for a generation and a half of Alcalá residents who have gone out at night, has been responsible, in part, for our love of independent music, thanks to his work behind the bar, after the dishes, after the play, even if it was not on the mobile. So these two passes are for Dani Andrinete,” said Pedro Toro.
