Mathieu Mortelmans

Mathieu Mortelmans (°1985) is a Belgian writer/director. Always looking for stories that show the man inside the monster and the monster inside the man, he loves genre and (psychological) thrillers. He has directed more than 30 episodes for various TV shows, notably VERMIST (distributed in 92 countries), UNIT 42 (France 2 / Netflix), SOIL (SBS / Netflix), ALTER EGO (Streamz). His first feature film BASTARD premiered at the Ostend Film Festival, was nominated for Best Flemish Film at the 2020 Magritte du Cinéma and was released on Netflix and Mubi.
Currently Mathieu is showrunning and directing the six-part drama TERRORIST HUNTERS with teammates Adil & Bilall, a true crime thriller about the manhunt for the surviving terrorists from the 2015 attacks in Paris and Brussels. The series focuses on the emotional wounds this nerve-wracking investigation has left on the Special Units agents and their families. Mathieu is also developing his next feature film ALPHA KILLER, a dark thriller with a horror twist that tells the true story of a troubled undercover agent who must befriend a suspected serial killer in order to catch him.
