Loïc Espuche is a French animation filmmaker, born in Villeurbanne in 1989. He studied visual communication at La Martinière in Lyon and later trained in directing and animation at EMCA in Angoulême and La Poudrière in Bourg-lès-Valence.
Espuche’s career includes work as an animator on feature films such as I Lost My Body (2019) and Marona’s Fantastic Tale (2019), as well as directing short films like Tombés du nid (2015) and Les Chocottes (2015).
In 2024, he directed the animated short Yuck! (Beurk!), which explores the experience of a first kiss from a child’s perspective. The film was nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film in 2025 and won the César Award for Best Animated Short Film.
