Hayao Miyazaki
Hayao was born in Tokyo in 1941. He studied Political Science and Economics at Gakushuin University. His main reference is Osamu Tezuka, the 'father of manga', who awakes Hayao's interest in drawing. After his studies, Hayao became an interposer at an animation company. Finally he was commissioned by the magazine Animage to perform - under total creative freedom - the manga 'Nausicaä del Valle del Viento'. His film 'Spirited Away' won the Oscar for the best animated film.
