ALCINE, the Alcalá de Henares Film Festival / Community of Madrid, presented the Diamond Awards for its 54th edition yesterday at the Closing Gala held at the Teatro Salón Cervantes in Alcalá de Henares. Among them were the First Diamond Award of the National Short Film Competition, which went to +10K, by Gala Hernández, and the First Diamond Award of the European Short Film Competition, which went to Dieu est timide, by Jocelyn Charles. Both films have already secured their pre-selection for the Oscar Academy Awards® and, in the case of the National Competition, also for the Goya Awards.
ALCINE presented around thirty awards. Among them, for the first time, was the CANTERA Award for Best Short Film Project, granted by the Alcalá Film Office. The winners, Sara Étienne and Carla Laínez, will receive more than €20,000 in kind to develop their short film, System Girl.
The Gala, themed around Twin Peaks as a tribute to David Lynch, was hosted by actress Ana del Arco, accompanied by actor and clown Rubén Hernández, a regular in Yllana productions, and sound artist Javi Álvarez, who recreated the soundscape of the cult series.
Among those attending the Closing Gala were the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Community of Madrid, Mariano de Paco Serrano; the Deputy Director General of Development of the ICAA-Ministry of Culture, Fernando Bigeriego; the Mayor of Alcalá de Henares, Judith Piqué; the First Deputy Mayor, Director of the Department of Culture and Councilor for Tourism of Alcalá de Henares, Isabel Ruiz; and the Councilor for Culture of Alcalá de Henares, Santiago Alonso.
