Open Screen, the competitive section dedicated to the debut films of filmmakers who have participated in ALCINE, kicks off today
Sorda, Olivia y el terremoto invisible, Molt lluny (Muy lejos), Jone, batzuetan (Jone, a veces), Bodegón con fantasmas and Esmorza amb mi are the six feature films that can be seen starting this Monday in Open Screen, the competitive section of ALCINE, the Alcalá de Henares Film Festival / Community of Madrid. All are debut features, and all have in common that, before their successful foray into feature films, their directors screened their short films at the festival.
One of them, Olivia y el terremoto invisible, arrives at ALCINE before its commercial release. Sorda, winner of two Golden Bears at the Berlinale and a Golden Biznaga at Málaga, has become one of the year's biggest hits. And all of them are debut features that exude risk, identity, and a personal perspective on the world.
After each screening, there will be a discussion with the directors and their teams. In the case of Esmorza amb mi, actor Álvaro Cervantes will also be present.
This is the complete program for Open Screen at ALCINE 54:

Beyond Open Screen, two other feature films will be screened this week at ALCINE 54. ALCINE attendees can also attend the Madrid premiere of El último arrebato (The Last Outburst). This debut feature by journalist and screenwriter Marta Medina and producer Enrique López Lavigne, with the special collaboration of Jaime Chávarri, is a hybrid of reality and fiction, with a meta-cinematic true crime feel, that attempts to answer the final mystery left to us by cult director Iván Zulueta.
