The electronic pop duo Hidrogenesse, an essential fixture in our indie scene, will open the 54th edition of ALCINE, the Alcalá de Henares / Community of Madrid Film Festival, on November 6th at the Teatro Salón Cervantes.
Carlos Ballesteros and Genís Segarra have celebrated 25 years on stage, a combination of arty and Berlanga-esque styles. If you think there's nothing sadder than yours, have ever attended a party in a tiger costume, or have ever wondered what Spaniards laugh about, you know what we're talking about.
They have just released Daniela Forever, the soundtrack to Nacho Vigalondo's latest film, and the surprise film at the last ALCINE 53 festival.
With this exaggerated introduction, Hidrogenesse is chosen to open ALCINE 54: an opening for which they will tap into cinephile culture, with a special set in which they will perform, sing, and comment on sequences from their favorite films, specially edited for the occasion.
In addition to setting the poems of the recent Cervantes Prize winner, Álvaro Pombo, to music, in recent years they have composed songs for La Mesías and the theme song for the series SuperSara. They have also become filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo's favorite band for their music for both Daniela Forever and La Alarma, and the miniseries Superestar, in which they also make a surprising cameo.
Tickets for the ALCINE 54 opening concert are now on sale from €6 on the Culturalcalá website and at the Teatro Salón Cervantes box office.
