A mysterious stone, on this occasion a traditional water stone where you can sharpen knives, scissors or who knows if the blades of the moviolas with which films were edited until the arrival of digital cinema, is the protagonist of the ALCINE 53 poster trailer. , organized by the Alcalá de Henares City Council and the Community of Madrid. The visual universe of ALCINE 53, which has not yet been completely revealed, is once again the work of SOPA Team, responsible among others for the image of series such as The Messiah or Cristóbal Balenciaga.
The Alcalá de Henares/Community of Madrid Film Festival, which takes place from November 7 to 17, will once again be a place to find precious pieces and diamonds in the rough. And this year, in addition to once again being a qualifying festival for both the Goya and the Oscar Awards, it will have new sections.
One of them, competitive, will be dedicated to fantasy and horror films and will be competitive. There will also be special passes designed for family conciliation. And ALCINE Sesión Continuous begins, which will offer the public a second opportunity to see the national and European short films in competition screened during the weekend, at the Gilitos Cultural Center - Alcalá Creation Laboratory (LabCrea), from Monday to Thursday.
In addition, ALCINE 53 promises more music and maintains the Alcalá Film Jam and ALCINE Off sections, inaugurated last year, along with the rest of the usual sections that complement its official sections: the National Short Film Competition, the European Short Film Competition, Open Screen and ESFFA, the European Audience Awards.
The 53rd edition of ALCINE will have its Espacio ALCINÉFILO for the second year, to which film fans can sign up now, through an online form, until next October 25. In addition to being able to vote for the public awards of the official sections, ALCINÉFILES will be rewarded for their love for the festival with free passes for these sections, exclusive discounts at collaborating establishments and the option to exchange their tickets for ALCINE merchandising, among other advantages.
More than 70 films will compete in this edition in competition sections. Many of them will be seen for the first time in the Community of Madrid and some will have their absolute premiere at ALCINE.
28 short films can be seen in the National Short Film Contest, and 23 in the European Contest, from France, Germany, Slovakia, Portugal, the Netherlands, Finland, Azerbaijan, Ireland and Belgium. For their part, 7 feature films will seek the audience award in Open Screen, as well as in ALCINE Kids, the European audience awards (ESFAA) or the new section dedicated to fantasy and horror films.
ALCINE will soon announce the titles of the films that will compete from November 7 to 17, as well as the rest of its programming, which will once again fill emblematic spaces in Alcalá de Henares such as the Teatro Salón Cervantes and the Corral de Comedias with cinema.
