Álvaro Cervantes and Natalia de Molina have just read the nominations for the next Goya Awards from Granada. The reading was delayed an hour because it did not coincide with the funeral chapel of the beloved Marisa Paredes.
At ALCINE we are very happy that films, short and long, that have been through the festival have ended up nominated, as well as titles that have not only been seen in Alcalá but that have been filmed in our city, thanks to the Alcalá Film Office , like The Room Next Door, by Pedro Almodóvar, which has accumulated 10 nominations.
Some nominated Madrid productions will be seen this Thursday, December 19 in The Shortest Day:
Ciao Bambina and Semillas de Kivu, nominated for Best Documentary
Lola, lolita, lolaza, nominated for Best Animated Short
Other shorts that have passed through ALCINE and will end up on the Granada red carpet are Els buits, nominated for Best Documentary Short, and Wan, winner of the ALUCINE category and nominated for Best Animated Short.
The two-time winner at ALCINE for best photography, Ion de Sosa (for The Tale of a Midsummer Night this edition and La niña martir in 2023) has seen his medium-length film Mamántula nominated for Best Fiction. A commitment by the Academy to long-form short films, along with Las novias del sur, by Elena López Riera, which at ALCINE we support and celebrate.
As for features, the Open Screen winner, La Estrella Azul, will compete for 8 big heads; and Where the Silence Passes, by Sandra Romero, who also competed inOpen Screen, is nominated for Best Novel Direction. The film with which we announced the 53rd edition last September, Second Prize, has not finally entered the Oscar shortlist but has garnered 11 nominations.
However, good news came from Hollywood yesterday for the Spanish short film, with two national short films getting closer to the nomination: Paris 70 and The Great Work, a short film that can be seen this Saturday, closing the circle, in the celebration of The Shortest Day organized by the Short Film Coordinator in Almagro and in which ALCINE will also be present, participating in one of the round tables of this great European day dedicated to short films.
And, just after the New Year, the awards season returns this time to ALCINE Club, where you can see several of the nominated titles, some of them already announced:
