Short Music: Lorenzo Montatore premieres his tribute to Talking Heads at ALCINE 53, along with performances by Cabiria and Anna Otta.

It will take place on Saturday, November 9, at the Corral de Comedias in Alcalá de Henares. Tickets are already on sale.

Music and comics also have their place from November 7 to 17 at ALCINE, the Alcalá de Henares / Community of Madrid Film Festival, in the event Short Music. This name is no coincidence, as ALCINE is one of the most important short film festivals in Spain. The program offers three avant-garde music acts in short format, ranging from the latest electronic pop release by Cabiria to renowned comic artist Lorenzo Montatore’s tribute to Talking Heads, along with the experimental electronic music of Anna Otta from Berlin and Madrid.

While Los Punsetes kick off ALCINE 53 with a “cinematic” concert on November 7 and David ‘El Indio’s’ Gipsy Power Band pays tribute to “quinqui” music at the festival’s Opening Gala on November 8, Short Music arrives at the Corral de Comedias in Alcalá de Henares on November 9 at 9:00 PM.

Between synthesizers, italo-disco nods, and dreamy pop melodies, Eva Valero presents the latest release from her project, Cabiria, fresh off the release of her third album, Costa Futuro. Progressive synth pop with a retro atmosphere that makes you want to return to Xanadu. This isn’t Cabiria’s first collaboration with the festival; the jingle introducing ALCINE’s podcast carries her signature sound.

Renowned comic artist Lorenzo Montatore (The Lie Ahead) has dedicated his latest work (If You Dance, You’ll Understand the Lyrics Better) to Talking Heads. His Short Music performance at ALCINE is an exclusive homage to Stop Making Sense, one of the best concert films in history, in which filmmaker Jonathan Demme captured three nights of concerts by David Byrne’s band. Montatore’s is an exclusive production for ALCINE, featuring cassette players, animations, and even karaoke.

The third Short Music act is an audiovisual show by Anna Otta, one of Europe’s most unique electronic acts. Using loops and their own voices, they have toured with artists such as Christina Rosenvinge and Mikel Izal. This time, they will be joined by animator and filmmaker Nicolai Troshinsky, who will create live visuals.

Tickets for ALCINE Short Music are now on sale.
