ALCINE 53 warms up with 'Second Prize', the film that will represent Spain at the Oscars

The Alcalá de Henares/Community of Madrid Film Festival is warming up for its next edition by revealing some of its keys and novelties to the ALCINEPHIL community this Thursday at the Salón Cervantes Theater during the 'Second Prize' screening at the ALCINE Club, the film about the legendary indie band Los Planetas, chosen by the Film Academy to represent Spain at the Oscars.

 

From Alcalá to the Hollywood Oscars. 'Second Prize', the film by Isaki Lacuesta and Pol Rodríguez about the legend (and not the history) of Los Planetas, chosen last Wednesday by the Film Academy as Spain's candidate for the nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, He will spend this Wednesday and Thursday at ALCINE Club, at the Teatro Salón Cervantes, before his Hollywood journey. A (non) biography of the group that has earned the film the Golden Biznaga at the Malaga Festival and the unanimous recognition of both film critics and the indie community and fans of the band from Granada.

The first prizes of the 53rd edition of ALCINE, which will be held in Alcalá de Henares from November 7 to 17, can take a similar path. As a qualifying festival for both the Goya and the famous US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards, the winners will be able to bolster their career towards the Oscar for Best Fiction or Animated Short Film at the festival.

The Thursday screening of ALCINE Club, as always in two shifts at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., will have the presence of Pedro Toro, artistic director of ALCINE 53, who will present some of the keys and novelties of the imminent edition of the festival, which will fill the halls and streets of Alcalá de Henares with the best short format cinema, as well as concerts, exhibitions, meetings with professionals and many more surprises.
