RULES AND REGULATIONS ALCALÁ FILM JAM

OBJECTIVE

  • Alcalá Film Jam is an initiative of the Alcalá Film Office, under the Department of Tourism of Alcalá de Henares, held and hosted within the framework of the ALCINE festival.
  • Its aim is to support audiovisual creation and disseminate unique and heritage spaces of the city through a jam (event in which participants create a film in a short period of time) in which they will have to devise, film and assemble short audiovisual pieces in less than 72 hours.
  • It will take place from November 3 to 6, 2023, coinciding with the development of ALCINE 52.

PARTICIPANTS

  • Young people over 18 years of age and from any background may participate in this call, taking into account that the shootings will take place in Alcalá de Henares and all necessary travel and expenses will be paid by the participants.

JURY AND PRIZES

  • A maximum of three works per category may be submitted to the competition.
  • The organization will select up to a maximum of 10 pieces in each category (finalists) to be screened for the public and the jury in person on Thursday, November 9.
  • The audience and a jury made up of audiovisual professionals will view the finalists and award the following prizes.
  • Alcalá Film Jam Horizontal Category Award: 300 € and trophy.
  • Alcalá Film Jam Award Vertical Category: 300 € and trophy.
  • Audience Award: 300 € and trophy.
  • The jury and the organization may declare the awards void as well as grant special mentions, without economic endowment. Their decisions will be final.
  • The prizes will be subject to the withholdings and payment terms established by current legislation.

WORKS AND CATEGORIES

  • Two categories are established:
    • HORIZONTAL
      • Format 16:9 - 1920x1080 pixels.
      • Maximum duration: 5'.
    • VERTICAL
      • Format 9:16 - 1080 x 1920 pixels.
      • Maximum duration: 1'.
  • The organization may provide a theme, starting point or key words in order to dynamize the ideation of the piece, as well as to ensure that it has been created during the deadlines established for the jam and not before or outside of it.
  • Participating films must be shot in Alcalá de Henares and its surroundings, indicating the main locations on the registration form. If the location is not recognizable, the organization may ask for proof (photographs or similar) of the location.
  • In any case, the approach to the given theme or elements will be completely free and any piece of fiction, non-fiction, documentary or animation made with free technique, including those new formats or languages commonly present on the Internet: stories, tiktoks, memes, etc., may be presented.
  • In any case, all filming will not be exempt from the conditions set by the legislation in this regard in terms of occupation of public roads, permits, etc. and those responsible, in case they need them, will be responsible for their management within the usual deadlines.
  • The pieces must be in Spanish or, failing that, with integrated subtitles in that language.
  • The pieces will open with an ALCALÁ FILM JAM sign provided by the organization.
  • Creations that may involve animal abuse or hate crimes and human rights violations will not be accepted.

REGISTRATIONS

  • Entries must be submitted using the following online form until 18:00h on Thursday, November 2, 2023.
  • The films will be submitted through a link (vimeo, youtube or similar) in final projection quality and with download option, in order to be evaluated by the organization and the juries.
  • Once the registration is validated, the communication and calls to the participants will be made by email.

DEVELOPMENT

  • Friday, November 3, 2023. 18:00h Santa María La Rica
    • Participants meeting, in person and via zoom.
    • Communication of the rules and themes of the film jam 2023 and distribution of accreditations and materials.
    • It will be necessary the attendance of at least one person from each participating group, either in person or online.
    • As a closing, the jury will be introduced and some short films will be screened as an example and inspiration and a small open workshop will be offered, for those who have technical doubts or want to learn how to optimize their way of filming.
  • Monday, November 6, 2023.
    • Submissions until 19:00 on the same day.
  • Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
    • Validation of pieces and correction of errors by the organization.
  • Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
    • Communication of the finalist pieces.
  • Thursday, November 9, 2023. 17:00h Teatro Salón Cervantes...
    • Public screening of the finalist pieces.
    • Admission will be open to the general public with free tickets available at the box office. A limited number of invitations will be provided to finalists.
  • Friday, November 10, 2023.
    • Public announcement of the jury's decision at the ALCINE 52 Closing Gala at the Teatro-Salón Cervantes.
    • A limited number of invitations will be provided to the finalists to attend the gala and the cocktail party afterwards.
    • The winning films may be screened at the Closing Gala depending on the criteria and duration of the event.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS

  • The organization reserves the right to broadcast all or parts of the works in the communication channels of the Department of Tourism, including its social networks, always crediting the authorship of the works and without commercial purposes.
  • By registering, participants guarantee the originality of the works, exempting the Film Office and therefore the City Council of Alcalá de Henares from any liability for non-compliance with current legislation on intellectual property and copyright.
  • The correct treatment of the documentation provided and the data provided by the participants is guaranteed, in accordance with the Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on Personal Data
  • Protection and guarantee of digital rights.
  • Participation in Alcalá Film Jam implies full acceptance of these rules. Any doubt or conflict about the interpretation of the bases will be resolved unappealably by the organization.
