Feminine humour and outlooks combine in 'European Shorts'
Women play a very active role in the film industry. However, most of the feature films that escape anonymity and are screened in large cinemas are created by men. Just one in five films screened is directed by a woman. A wide variety of festivals has championed the equality of the sexes for many years, striving for the work of female directors to be recognized, since it is not easy for it to reach the public at large.

ALCINE37 has joined this initiative with its 'European Shorts' section devoted to cinema made by women. The work included in this section is a powerful tool championing their work in the world of cinema across the globe.

The common denominator of the titles being screened is the humour at their heart. The original idea of this programme of short films arose from the working group 'Women and Film in Europe' of the European Coordinator of Film Festivals, and has been developed by the International Festival of Women in Creteil (France).
