Euxebi’s father was killed during the war. In his youth, Euxebi suffered the repression of Franco's dictatoship and, to this day, despite the fact that the dictatorship ended long ago, he didn't have the change to recover the memory of his father.
Areka is the result of the creative collaboration of twenty young artists. The mould of traditional Basque culture (Bersolarismo) comes together with visual experimentation, being inspired by a bertso created by Andoni Egaña specifically for this project. All of the creators worked collaboratively, sharing both work techniques and practices and experiences, thus enabling mutual learning. For this reason, the film is visually very consistent.
"Beti bezperako koplak" (2016)
The short film is a collectively-created work directed by twenty young Basque artists, coordinated by Bego Vicario. The short film interprets a 'bertso' made by Andoni Egaña in homage to the disappeared persons in the Civil War. The octogenarian Euxebi has never known where the remains of her father lay, but she has kept alive her memory until his remains have been found.
