Fatma and her mother are Kurdish refugees in Italy. On their visit to the doctor, Fatma has to translate what the doctor tells to her mother but she keeps silent.



Farnoosh Samadi

Born in Iran and graduated from the Fine Arts Academy in Rome. She started her career as a filmmaker at the Iranian Youth Cinema Society and after that she made some video installations. She is
the scriptwriter for the short films ‘Bishtar Az Doo Aaat’ directed by Ali Asgari which was nominated for a Palme d’Or at Cannes 2013, ‘Bacheh’ which was premiered in Short film competition at Venice Film Festival 2014 and some other short films. ‘Il silenzio’ is her first short film as a director which had his world premiere in competition at Cannes Film Festival 2016..

Ali Asgari

Ali Asgari was born in Tehran, Iran. He is a graduated of cinema in Italy. He began his career as an assistant director. He is an alumnus of Berlinale Talent Campus 2013. His short film 'More Than Two Hours' was in competition at Cannes 2013 and Sundance Film festival 2014. His short film 'The Baby' was  premiered in competition of Venice Film Festival 2014. 'The Silence' is his first short film which was made out of Iran and will have its world premiere in competition at Cannes Film Festival 2016.
