ALCINE More Indie than Ever with Joe Crepúsculo, Tigres Leones and Las Despechadas

ALCINE is running its very own micro-festival of electronic, pop/rock and independent music in the short format.

Alongside performances by comics and special screenings, music has always played a leading role on the underground side of Alcalá’s Festival. So for two days only, after the Tulsa show in conjunction with The Romantic Exiles by Jonás Trueba in the Teatro-Salón Cervantes, on Saturday the 5th of November The Green will be the venue for Festival performances by the electronic singer songwriter Joe Crepúsculo, the intimate universe of the pop-rock trio Tigres Leones and the casual selection of festival tunes spun by the Las Despechadas Pinchadiscos.

Joe Crepúsculo is synonymous with fiesta, pop sensitivities and frenetic dancing. His fondness for popular rhythms with a hint of electronics, from bakalao to flamenco, and the honesty of his lyrics, with eloquent anthems such as Mi fábrica de baile and La verdad, have turned his live performances into unforgettable experiences for fans and newcomers alike.

After cementing his relationship with film with the original soundtrack to Toro, the latest film by Kike Maíllo, and sharing the stage with another composer of audio-visuals and actor, Aaron Rux (Canódromo Abandonado), we are delighted to welcome him to ALCINE for the unveiling of his Nuevos Misterios.

Tigres Leones are one of the best un-kept secrets of the Spanish indie scene.

Surreal and irreverent lyrics mixed with music that takes it cues from the rock and psychedelia of the sixties as well as the best hidden pop of the eighties and nineties to create a recognisable and personal sound that is reminiscent of legendary bands such as El niño gusano and Patrullero Mancuso. On their latest release, La Catastrofía (Sonido Muchacho, 2015) they worked with La Bien Querida on the single Marte, which went viral thanks to the comic and entertainer Miguel Esteban, whose work we will be screening at the Golfomaratón Comedy Show at this year’s festival.

Las Despechadas Pinchadiscos a fixture of the nightlife of Lavapiés and Malasaña and of festivals such as Sonorama, are set to get you dancing till you drop with the rallying cry of “Bust-up or barbarism!”

And to bring the Festival to a close, the sounds of the eighties will echo around the The Green venue on Friday the 11th with the performance of Los Kevin Bacons a super-group formed by well-known faces from the world of film and TV: Dani Pérez Prada (El Caso, Cómo sobrevivir a una despedida) and Manolo Solo (Tarde para la ira, B., La isla mínima) with the harmless aspiration of reliving the hits of that decade without making ourselves feel too old in the process.
