ALCINE IS OPENING THE FESTIVAL WITH THE STUNNING VOICE OF CONCHA BUIKA

ALCINE has brought back the tradition of opening the Festival with a top concert. Concha Buika, one of the most astonishing voices in the world, gained international fame for her songs in the Pedro Almodóvar film "The Skin I Live In". She is scheduled to make a stop in Alcalá in the middle of a major international tour for a once-off concert. Buika will captivate us with a repertoire of her best and biggest hits, alongside Ivan 'Melon' Lewis on the piano and Ramón Porrina on the drums.

Buika (María Concepción Balboa Buika) was born in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. She is an extremely gifted artist, poet, composer and music producer. It is said of her that she 'literally combines all possible musical styles with her powerful lyrics and the sweeping sensuousness of her voice'. It takes an extraordinary artist to evoke such strong opinions, and with her very own and unique style she clearly stands out in the eclectic mass of styles and artists she has been compared to. Considered one of the top 50 voices of all time by NPR USA, the list of prizes and awards she has received for her work keeps growing, with her recent nomination at the 56th edition of the Grammys and two Latin Grammys among many more. Her latest musical adventure bears traces of her own personal identity: 'Vivir sin miedo' came out on the 16th of October this year.
